Small Grants Guidelines

SGGN Small Grant Program

We have a limited number of small grants available to assist giving gardeners with expenses for the creation, small maintenance, repairs, or improvements of giving gardens. The criterion for awarding a grant is: will this project help to maintain or improve the productivity of the giving garden?

Maximum amount of reimbursement per garden per year is $300.

How to Request a Grant. Send an email to info@sggn.org that describes what you want to do, why you want to do it, and details of estimated cost. If applicable, take a “before” picture and send along with the request.

Review Deadlines. This program will be open from February to November. Applications may be sent any time and will be reviewed by March 20, April 20, and May 20. Notification will be sent within 10 days after each date.

Reimbursement Process. Once your grant request is approved and your project is underway, you may submit requests for reimbursement of expenses as they are incurred. Take clear pictures of all receipts (or scan them) and email them to the designated SGGN person. Please provide a safe mailing address for receiving your reimbursement. Reimbursement will be paid by check from GROW, SGGN’s fiscal sponsor.

Once the reimbursement request is processed and sent to GROW, you should expect to see a check within the next 2-3 weeks.

Please send “before,” “underway” and “after” photos of your project as we use them for fundraising and sharing on social media to inspire other gardeners.
